Air ambulance tracker
Heard a helicopter low overhead? If it's an air ambulance, Wingwait will usually show it, labelled, with its path.
Show helicopters now →How to spot one
In the UK, helicopter emergency medical services mostly fly with callsigns beginning HLE (Helimed). Wingwait recognises them and flags them in the ✨ Interesting list, and with Overhead alerts switched on in Settings, it can ping you when one passes within about 8 km.
Please be respectful
Air ambulances fly to people on the worst day of their lives. Wingwait shows what's publicly broadcast, but please don't follow them to scenes or share incident locations. Watch from afar.
Questions
Are all air ambulances visible?
Most broadcast ADS-B, but coverage at low altitude depends on a receiver being nearby, so a helicopter can drop off the map as it descends.
Can I be alerted when one flies over?
Yes. Open Settings, turn on Overhead alerts, and allow location. You'll get a notification while Wingwait is open.
